I2C Controlled Single-Cell 2.5A Buck-Boost Charger with Power Path Management
The SGM41578 is a 2.5A synchronous Buck-Boost charger with NVDC power path management. It can provide high efficient and low component count solution for single-cell battery charging applications.
The SGM41578 charges the single-cell Li-Ion or Li-polymer battery over a 2.6V to 5.5V input range, ensuring a seamless transition between modes by automatically switching Buck, Buck-Boost and Boost modes. The key charge parameters can be programmed via the I2C interface for optimal system performance. If the device is not in thermal regulation mode, the charge cycle automatically terminates when a full charge is detected. The charger automatically initiates a new charge cycle if the battery voltage falls below the recharge threshold. The SGM41578 also provides comprehensive protection for safety of battery charging and system operation, including battery temperature monitoring, charging safety timer, over-current and over-voltage protections.
