The SGM41600A is an efficient 8A switched-capacitor battery charging device with I2 C control that can operate either in charge-pump voltage divider mode or in bypass mode. It can charge single-cell Li-Ion or Li-polymer battery in a wide 3.4V to 11.5V input voltage range (VBUS) from smart wall adapters or power banks. The switched-capacitor architecture is optimized for 50% duty cycle to cut the input current to one-half of the battery current and reduce the wiring drops, losses and temperature rise in the application. A two-channel switched-capacitor topology is used to reduce the required input capacitors, improve efficiency and minimize the output ripple. Necessary protection features for safe charging performance including input over-voltage protection by external OVPFET (QOVP) and input reverse blocking (using an internal NFET) are provided. The SGM41600A is available in a Green WLCSP -2.8×2.8-36B package and can operate in the -40℃ to +85℃ ambient temperature range.
